The Greek Elixir
‘Oinomelo” is a sweet, aromatic, warm wine which can be found in different variations with ingredients like honey, herbs and spices.The original recipe has its roots in the wine of Hippocrates, father of medicine, who first discovered its therapeutic effect, while the Romans considered it a potent elixir, as they believed in its rich, beneficial properties.Over the years, it spread throughout Europe and it is now customary to drink it during the wither months, especially during Christmas time.
The box contains:
– Protected geographical indication Peloponnesian red dry wine.
– Authentic honey, unwrought, from orange tree blossoms.
– Fig dark chocolates with red wine or with fleur de salt and thyme.
– Cinnamon, Star anise & Cloves.
Ingredients:
– 750ml red dry wine
– 100-150g orange honey
– 2 cinnamon sticks
– 2 stars anise
– 4 or 5 carnation cloves
The secret recipe
Grind the whole spices in a mortar.
Pour the wine, honey and all the spices in a closer container.
TIP: Add fresh fruits pieces of your choice in the container.
Is ideally accompanied by chocolate dry figs.
